United Methodists have long been known as “The Singing Church” and the Darlington congregation is no exception. A very special part of the church’s history is its music program. Throughout the years several fine organists/pianists have led the congregation’s worship on Sunday mornings. Dedicated choir directors and singers add a special touch to the Sunday morning worship.

A special tradition of the choir is the annual Christmas Eve Candlelit Choral Service.  The service is a true reminder of the reason for the season.  Luminaries line the sidewalks of the park in front of the church to guide people into the sanctuary, which is lit by candle.  It is a truly memorable event which has celebrated the birth of Christ Jesus now for over 75 years.

Another more recently implemented tradition is the Choir Fun Night.  A night of skits, music, and laughter fills the packed sanctuary.  Without a doubt, the service reminds all present to praise God for the blessing of laughter in our lives.

The Senior Choir (High School aged and older) is a volunteer organization comprised of about twenty five members.  There are no try-outs or strings attached.  There are only music-loving people who like to have fun and sing praises to the Lord.  Members of the choir do not have to be members of the church.  We welcome everyone to come and partake.  Practices are Sunday mornings at 9am in the sanctuary prior to the worship service.
